This is not my original idea - I can't remember where I first saw it.
To give the impression of a picture bursting from the page photocopy two identical pictures and cut the top one as shown, place the cut picture on top of the intact one, peel back and secure each cut section.
It actually looks better without the writing but I used the idea to advertise our grahic novels.
