Fall into a good book!

Thanks to Fran for sharing her latest display - I love Fran's displays because they aren't limited to one space - the theme spreads all over the library and gives a great impression.

This year Fran has gone with mainly black and white with a little fall color. 

The books that are in black and white have (in the last photo) a quote in front of them to entice readers by the catchy quote, which she tells me has worked!

Thanks to Susan, Library Assistant at Lester B. Pearson High School for this display. Here are her comments:

'I covered a tabletop tri-fold with brown Kraft paper then traced a projected clip art image directly onto it. An outline in black paint and a bit of brown sponged color ended up giving me this very cute tree who is so obviously shocked to see all his leaves falling off. A fall garland tacked along the bottom of the display finishes it off quite nicely. Keeping with the fall colours theme, I choose books on a variety of topics to display on the counter around it'.

Fall is in the air

'I feel like I should share some of my displays since I have found your website to be so inspiring and helpful! I am the teacher librarian at Lemme School in Iowa City, Iowa, USA. I am always looking for a new display to grab my kids!

For this fall book display. I used an old ladder, a wooden basket, some fake fall leaves and little pumpkins as decorations. I put all of our fall, pumpkin and leaf books on the display'.

Rake in a Good Read

Bess Gonglewski is responsible for the displays and bulletin boards at the Marriott Library at the Holton-Arms School in Bethesda, Maryland (USA).
This is a lovely bright, eye-catching display. Bess says that it's all made out of paper (the brown is all recycled, the rake made of rolled up paper, and the book covers are color copies).

Bobbi Galvin from Ohio Dominican University Library generously invited us to choose any of her displays to put on this Blog. I had a look through her great collection and based this Autumn display on one of her ideas.

For the Autumn display I found the gorgeous leaves from google images and stuck them onto the sticky side of the tape so they look like they are floating down. The poster is copied and pasted from Bobbie's website! Thanks Bobbie!
The book selection is quite random - pulling a few old favourites off the shelves.



Tim Wynne Jones writes great YA mystery/crime novels with a bit of a twist. They are popular with our students.
