Martin Luther King, Jr. Day

By Michelle Reid

Thank you Michelle for sharing this thought-provoking display - here are her comments:

'I made a small interactive display for Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. In addition to featuring books on Dr. King and the American Civil Rights movement, I included copies of his “I Have a Dream” speech and his “Letter from Birmingham Jail.” The color photo from the March on Washington also includes a QR code – the code links to a YouTube video of the original 17 minute “I Have a Dream” speech. Dr. King’s words are so eloquent, and still resonate today'.

Top Ten 2009

By Pamela McKirdy
Thanks to Pamela McKirdy from Wellington East Girls' College for her wonderfully creative "top 10" display. She stuck portions of book covers on to old cds and hung them above the photocopier so they twirl in the warm air. The school logo CD was done on MS Publisher.

Top Ten

By Elaine Pearson
I do this display at the beginning of each year, it generates a lot of interest so I put it up in the staffroom when I have finished with it in the library. No surprises that Twilight (the whole series) topped the chart this year, but I was really pleased to see a wide range of other genres represented. I display the books underneath the poster and the students can help themselves.
This Lullaby
At number eight favourite, an oldie but goodie, "Dreamland" is a captivating novel. Sarah Dessen remains very popular in our library because the students continue to recommend her writing to each other. [Click on the picture for more details]
