Magic School Bus

By Jill Hames

Thanks to Jill for another interesting display - I love the idea of children doing their science experiments at home! Here are Jill's comments:

'We have a program where children do science experiments (at home) and win prizes. Included in the display are a bookmark to keep track of how many experiments the child completes; coloring pages; and a booklet featuring sample experiments, Magic School Bus coloring pages, and a list of all the Magic School Bus items available for check out. All the Magic School Bus items in the library are also moved to the display'.

Reading is at the Heart of it all

By Ellen Dutton
Ellen Dutton from Evelyn Grace Academy in London has put reading displays in different classrooms. She has made the theme relevant to the subject and it works really well! Ellen says that they are trying to create a strong reading culture in their school and also show that students who love reading generally do better in all different subjects.

I think it's a really good idea and would like to do a similar thing myself. It is a great opportunity to use display to promote the library, and reading, to subjects that rarely use the library resources.
Thanks for sharing Ellen.
