Naughty Antiheroes!

By Michelle Reid

Thanks to Michelle for sharing her Christmas display idea - great to see something a bit different!
Here are her comments:
'This year I flipped our holiday-themed display to feature characters who would find themselves on Santa’s “naughty” list: antiheroes! I found the free poster template on www.canva.com and used our die cutter to make stockings filled with paper coal'.

Summer reading

By Elaine Pearson

Our students are being encouraged to avoid the 'summer slide' by reading over the summer holidays.

Details on the towels hanging on the washing line encourage students to sign up for our 'Summer Seven' holiday reading challenge - students can select up to seven print books to take home for summer, they are given a special bag and reading log.
The second towel encourages students to use our new collection of eBooks.

Get your holiday reading here!

By Melanie Muir

Thanks to Melanie from Wairarapa College for sharing this lovely display.
Here are her comments:
'All it took was an old shower curtain with sky and clouds – plain blue plastic works fine, with paper or cotton-wool clouds. The banner was cut from a white plastic supermarket bag.
The rest is just cardboard cut-outs and fake turf, with a few artificial flowers.
There was much discussion by the boys with an engineering bent as to the plane’s capability of remaining airborne with the banner! At least it got them looking at the display…..'

Slide into Winter .. Read a Good Book!

By Andrea Garcia
Despite the glare on the glass cabinet you can clearly see the fun these penguin bookworms are having tumbling down their snow-covered slope! I'm sure they will inspire the children to take a few books home for the holidays - the penguins at the bottom of the display are offering some excellent suggestions!
Thanks Andrea and have a lovely holiday!

Warm up your holidays with these Romance titles..

By Sherry Cortes
Light the fire and snuggle down with a good romance! That's the invitation from Sherry!
This is what she says:
'Hello from the United States! My name is Sherry Cortes, and I am the reference librarian at Savannah Technical College, a small technical school in Savannah, Georgia. We don’t have much room for displays, but I work with what we do have and try to make each month a different theme. This month is a romance for the holidays, with romance books—we had gotten in a shipment of Zane books which inspired the display, but those were checked out before I had a chance to even put them up, so I found other romance novels on our shelves.
It keeps things interesting here to have a little display, and there has definitely been an increase in book checkouts since I started doing this'.

Thanks for sharing this inviting display Sherry - have a wonderful Christmas!

Holiday Romance

By Elaine Pearson
A selection of love stories (for girls and boys) were selected for this quick and easy display - aimed at encouraging reading during the school holidays.

Some of you have asked where the lovely patchwork hearts came from. I found them on a 'free printables' site and I thought it was 'twinkl'. However, after searching for the hearts again I couldn't find them!
Nevertheless twinkl is worth a look, there are some great free resources available: twinkl
