Australia: Story Country

By Gabrielle Meares

Thanks to Gaby who has shared this display.
To celebrate Children's Book Week in Australia she recreated a typical Australian backyard with a Hills Hoist (washing line!) cricket set, a dog, and, of course, blowflies!
Students coloured in the letters that spelt out the theme, which we hung on the washing line!

Australia! Story Country

By Michelle Walsh

It's Book Week in Australia on 20th - 26th August and Michelle has kindly shared her impressive and inspiring display - I love the way the combined book covers make the shape of the country!

ANZAC Day

By Sally

I just love this clever display by Sally from Christchurch, New Zealand.
It was a joint effort with students and members of the public - a great way to bring the joint (school & public) community together. The poppies are all knitted, crocheted, or sewn.
I bet it has a huge impact on everyone who sees it, it's really impressive!
Well done Sally and thanks for sharing it.

Centenary of WW1

By Barbara Plumb

Barbara has created this display to mark the centenary of the declaration of war: 4th August 1914 – 4th August 2014. She plans to add information as the year progresses to the physical displays and also to the library Facebook page.
Thanks for sharing Barbara, I think it's a great idea to build on the display throughout the year (or four years!)

Great Barrier Reef

By Susan Kay

Thanks to Susan for sending us this lovely bright display. A great welcome to students at the beginning of the year - a celebration of their wonderful country.

Here are Susan's comments:
'This term our class teacher asked me to make a display to show some of the wonderful features we have here in Australia. Manly because of my love of colour I chose The Great Barrier Reef!!! The students are loving the use of the colours, netting and 3 dimensional 'coral' at the base of the display'.

Have you got a wonderful local or national feature to get excited about? Use it to promote books from your collection.
